Department of Homeland Security
The Small Business Center (SBC) is the business licensing division of the City of Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) and the City’s “one-stop-shop” for business licensing, public way use permitting, and connecting entrepreneurs to business resources.
IL Emergency Management Agency
The primary responsibility of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is to better prepare the State of Illinois for natural, manmade or technological disasters, hazards, or acts of terrorism. Our goal is a “better prepared state.” IEMA coordinates the State’s disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and activities, functions as the State Emergency Response Commission, and maintains a 24-hour Communication Center and State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC). The SEOC acts as lead in crisis/consequence management response and operations to notify, activate, deploy and employ state resources in response to any threat or act of terrorism. IEMA assists local governments with multi-hazard emergency operations plans and maintains the Illinois Emergency Operations Plan.

The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance (IFSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds throughout the year to develop and distribute fire safety and burn prevention materials throughout the state and host a wide-variety of burn survivor support programs.

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

SchoolSafety.gov
SchoolSafety.gov is a collaborative, interagency website created by the Federal government to provide schools and districts with actionable recommendations to create safe and supportive learning environments where students can thrive and grow. The site serves as a one-stop access point for information, resources, guidance, and evidence-based practices on a range of school safety topics and threats. Through the site, members of the kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) academic community can also use tools to prioritize school safety actions, find applicable resources and funding opportunities, connect with state and local school safety officials, and develop school safety plans.
If You See Something, Say Something
“If You See Something, Say Something®” is a national campaign that raises public awareness of the signs of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, and how to report suspicious activity to state and local law enforcement.
Chicago Transit Authority-Security
The safety and security of public transit riders is the No. 1 priority for both the CTA and the Chicago Police Department. Learn about the Safe & Secure program and other ways the CTA & CPD are working together to enhance the safety of public transit riders through extensive surveillance cameras and other security improvements.
The Near South Side is comprised of significant portions of the 3rd, 4th, 11th and 25th Wards, as well as part of the 42nd Ward. NSPB works closely with the Aldermen for all of these Wards on matters affecting both residents and businesses, including planning, development, parking, safety and more.
